
A Nigerian entrepreneur based in Abuja has been taken into custody by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for attempting to sell the newly released Naira notes online.
Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, who uses the handle @SimisolaGold and Twitter name Simisola of Lala was apprehended by ICPC official acting on intelligence.
According to a statement from ICPC spokesperson Mrs Azuka Ogugua on February 1st, 2023, Omoseyin is cooperating with the investigation but has not yet revealed the identities of any accomplices in the financial services sector.
According to the ICPC spokesperson, the arrested suspect is being detained by the anti- corruption agency and is providing useful information regarding illegal currency trading and its impact on the scarcity and negative consequences.
