On “THATS WHAT I WANT,” Lil Nas sings about his desire for love, which is often a struggle to find as a gay black man.
Lil Nas X first teased the song on TikTok in February 2021. The song was further teased in several TikToks starting May 28, 2021.
However, the song was officially released on September 17, 2021 with production credit from Ryan Tedder, KBeaZy, Blake Slatkin & Omer Fedi.
